A massive power outage has hit the Chicago and suburban areas due to the storms last night. We are already getting the panic calls from those who cannot figure out how to get out of their garage. All garage door openers sold in the U.S. since the 1970's MUST have a manual release by UL requirement. This is usually a red string (a chain on some old units) located near the connection of the garage door opener arm to the garage door. In openers made after 1982 you simply pull down on the release sting and lift the door manually.

Chamberlain (Lift-Master) has announced a price increase on all parts of 8% effective June 2011. Although we purchase some Liftmaster product factory direct we purchase others through wholesale distributors for better pricing or availability. These distributors are increasing their prices by 8% on or before July 01, 2011. This price increase will apply to all parts and accessories including gear kits, remote transmitters, keyless entry systems, receivers, etc.  We will honor proposals written prior to 06/15/2011 for the time indicated at the bottom of the proposal (usually 45 days).

Jeld-wen garage doors will be subject to the new Amarr fuel surcharge of 1.4% effective 05/30/2011.  We will honor proposals written prior to 05/30/2011 for the time indicated at the bottom of the proposal (usually 45 days). The use of coupons in the garage door industry is becoming more common with the tough economy.  Many of our competitors in the Chicago, IL area use coupons ($10 off any garage door  spring repair, $25 off any garage door, etc).

We have confirmation from Clopay that the lead time for polyurethane garage doors has been reduced to 2-3 weeks beginning 02/14/2011. This is contrast to our previous post. This is great news for those wanting high insulation garage doors (up to r=17.2) like the 9130 series,9200 series, Gallery GD1SU, GD1SU, GD2LU, GD2LU and 3700 series commercial doors.  We do have access to some 9200 and 9203 doors in the most common sizes from Clopay regional center stock for immediate installation in the Chicago, IL area.
