Memo from Amarr - the single US distributor for Jeld-Wen garage doors:

JELD-WEN® Garage Doors Discontinued

JELD-WEN has announced the discontinuation of its line of garage doors; production will stop on October 28, 2011.  Effective immediately, Amarr will no longer accept any orders for JELD-WEN garage doors.
JELD-WEN will continue to honor the warranty of garage doors for the length of the warranty. The current process for filing warranty claims will remain in effect.
If you currently have an order in house, Amarr recommends you contact your customer and make them aware of the JELD-WEN decision to discontinue production on garage doors.  Listed below are some possible options for your customer:
• Fill the existing order.
• Cancel the existing order.
• Amarr will offer you (our dealer) a 10% discount on any Amarr product purchased to help you satisfy the customer should they decide to substitute another product for the JELD-WEN product.  The 10% discount applies to the alternate product only.  All substitute products must be re-quoted from scratch as the JELD-WEN pricing is no longer a factor.
• Any potential JELD-WEN order that you are discussing should be moved to another product, as Amarr is not accepting any more orders for JELD-WEN garage doors.  The 10% discount will not apply in this circumstance.

If you or your customer has any concerns on the viability of an existing order or future warranty issues, please contact your General Manager at the Door Center for additional information.


Garage Door Co Repair Pros will NOT accept any order or quote requests for the Jeld-Wen line effective immediately. We are sorry to loose a quality product line and have not comparable source for composite doors at this time. We will actively pursue options for our customers. If you are local to Chicago please contact us to discuss any alternatives or Jeld-Wen issues.

In order to verify that Jeld-Wen was truly getting out of the garage door business Garage Door Corporation submitted an inquiry on the Jeld-Wen website and this is part of the email response we got: "Thank you for contacting JELD-WEN. I can confirm JELD-WEN has decided to discontinue its wood composite garage door offering including the Carriage, Estate, and Traditional designs and exit garage door manufacturing at the end of October, 2011. I would like to know of anyone still producing the composite garage door parts, like the panels themselves ? I need to have a few replaced.
My exact garage door is the #83 Double Car with 16"Straps and handles.
