We are pleased to announce that ASSA ABLOY has acquired Amarr Garage Doors, with the official closing expected to occur in late November or early December. The entire Amarr team is intact, in their same roles and will continue to provide you, our loyal dealers, with the same quality products and service you have come to expect.
ASSA ABLOY is a Swedish company formed almost 20 years ago by combining two competitors in the locking business, ASSA and Abloy. Since then, ASSA ABLOY has acquired hundreds of firms and now posts sales of over $7 billion with 43,000 employees in 70 countries.
In 2013, ASSA ABLOY was named to Forbes’ list of one the world’s 100 most innovative companies. You might recognize some of their brands like Yale Locks and Ving Card, the electronic card keys used at most hotels. When you walk into a Target, you walk through a Besam door, another ASSA ABLOY brand. In our industry, ASSA ABLOY owns the Swedish door manufacturer Crawford Door and in the U.S., ASSA ABLOY owns specialty door manufacturers Albany, Dynaco and MegaDoor, plus a loading dock system firm named 4Front, along with hardware manufacturers Helton and Flexiforce.
What ASSA ABLOY does not own is a sectional door manufacturer in the U.S. Amarr fills this gap in the ASSA ABLOY structure.
